Great food and friendly service.

Loved this venue, restaurant set up in an old house. I was intrigued as we wound our way upstairs to our table. The food was fantastic and I would definitely recommend a visit.

Had a lovely meal tonight, the food was outstanding, the service was great. I have no idea why this place doesn't have a Michelin star!!! Fabulous.

I really liked this restaurant. Excellent ambience, great food, friendly staff, and convenient to get to from Braintree station. I had a delicious fillet of beef and a banana tart tatin for dessert. I highly recommend it and will certainly be coming back.

The food is great, a lot of different flavors that make my pallet and stomach very happy. It is very much worth visiting! The service is wonderful, the wine, the music is perfect. I throughly enjoyed myself. Thank you!

I recently enjoyed a Sunday roast at ‘The House by Hilly Gant,’ and it was outstanding. I had the roast beef whilst my partner had the Nut roast. It was the best beef I've had in a long time, cooked to perfection. And my partner couldn’t get enough of hers either! What made the experience even more special was the fantastic service from Suzanne, our friendly waiter. We never felt left awkwardly waiting to order or pay for the bill and she was a pleasure to talk to also. The cozy ambiance added to the charm of the place. Highly recommended for a top quality Sunday roast!

A gastronomic delight. Head chef on vacation. Very young (21?) sous chef made our delicious meal. Amazing tastes. Yum.
