Did you check The Reviews?

Read what customers actually said about a business, see which reviews are tied to a real purchase, and follow the maths behind every score.

26.7k reviews of 25.3k businesses, 13% from a verified purchase.

Verified by default

Reviews that come from a real purchase, through an invitation, the API, Shopify or WooCommerce, carry a Verified badge and full weight. Organic reviews are welcome but count for 0.7.

Nothing hidden for money

No plan, at any price, lets a business remove a review. Every moderation decision is written to a public log on the business profile, with the reason.

A published formula

The score is one equation, printed in full on the trust page, applied identically to every business. You can recompute it yourself from the reviews on the page.

Questions people ask before they trust a score

How does TheReviews decide a score?

One published formula, applied to every business. A business starts at 3.5, and that starting point carries the weight of 3 reviews. Each published review pulls the score towards its star rating with a weight of recency times verification: a review loses half its weight every 365 days, verified reviews weigh 1.0 and organic reviews 0.7. The result is rounded to one decimal place. Nothing else goes in: not the plan a business pays for, not its reply rate, not how many invitations it sends.

Can a business pay to remove a review?

No. No plan at any price includes removal, and nobody on staff has a tool to edit a score. A business can post one public reply per review and can report a review that breaks a written guideline. A person reads the report, and whether it is upheld or dismissed, the decision is written to the moderation log on the business profile with the reason.

How do I know a review is from a real customer?

Look for the Verified badge: it means the review came through an invitation tied to a real order, or through the API against an order. Organic reviews are written by anyone with a confirmed email and are labelled as such. Every new review is also scored against 11 public fraud signals, such as several reviews from one device in 24 hours, text copied from another review, or a submission from the network the business itself signed in from. A total of 40 points or more holds the review for a person to read; 90 or more blocks it. The signals that fired are listed in the moderation log in plain words.

How the score works

One equation. No exceptions.

Every business starts from 3.5. Each review pulls the score towards its rating, with newer and verified reviews pulling harder, and three reviews outweigh the starting point. Until a business has three reviews we show the plain average instead of a score.

score = (8 × 3.5 + Σ w·rating) / (8 + Σ w)
w = 0.5^(age in days / 365) × (verified ? 1.0 : 0.7)
